Welcome to the Rockport Library Foundation website. We’re delighted you found us!
The Foundation is an IRS 501.c3 not-for-profit organization formed in 2018 by a small group of dedicated Rockport residents to raise the required funding for the new Rockport Public Library. Combined with a voter-approved bond of $1.5 million, the Foundation ultimately raised $2 million for the construction of the building and an additional $225,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment inside.
We didn’t accomplish that amazing goal alone, of course. Our fundraising efforts were supported by more than 450 residents, friends, foundations and businesses. It truly was a community-wide effort that resulted in a beautiful library and community space in the heart of Rockport Village.
While we successfully raised the initial funding for the building and furnishings, we’ve now set our sights on developing a world-class speaker series to be held in the Rockport Room of the library. As we like to say, we built it, now let’s fill it! By that we mean, let’s use this wonderful new building to be a gathering place that allows for an open, community-wide sharing of ideas and knowledge.
